Lector

Proclaims the Word of God during the liturgy.  Open to all confirmed members of our community.  Training provided.  Selection by application, audition and appointment.

Time commitment: One hour a month, sometimes in six month cycles, depending which Mass you'd prefer to read at

Meetings: A one time one hour training

Approximate number of members: 62

Most successful events: Our most popular times to lector are during the Christmas, Lenten and Easter seasons

You might be interested if: You enjoy public speaking.

Little known fact: Lectors have the opportunity to practice this ministry during the weekdays at funerals, if they are able.

Dear Fellow Lectors:
 
This is a survey we distributed for completion at our ministry meeting with Father Daniel on Sept. 2, 2008. If you did not attend please complete the survey. (If you already completed one at the meeting you do not need to complete this survey.) We ask that you complete the survey no later than Sept. 30, 2008.
 
Please note that the survey is inquiring as to your scheduling preferences for your service as lector. We will go with the wishes of the majority who respond to the survey, so this is your chance to have your opinions included in the process.
 
In the near future you will be receiving a summary of our meeting with Father Daniel and a request for volunteers to sign up to staff our table at the ministry fair on Sept. 27 and 28, 2008. Please give these e-mails your prompt attention.
