Rob Koons, U.T. professor of philosophy, will lead an upcoming discussion of the second book of Dante’s Divine Comedy. On the surface this great work of literature describes Dante's travels through Purgatory, but at a deeper level it represents the seven deadly sins and the soul's journey towards God. Dante draws on the teachings of St. Thomas Aquinas, producing a unique tapestry of philosophy, theology and literature. Prof. Koons recommends Anthony Esolen’s new translation of Purgatory (Modern Library 2004), but feel free to bring your favorite version. Sunday evenings from July 18-August 22, 6:30pm in Wozniak Hall at St. Louis King of France Catholic Church, 7601 Burnet Road, Austin.
